The Latest from Toronzo Cannon Highlights My First Run in Two Weeks

So the other day I looked back at my Fitbit workout log and saw that the last time I ran was November 6th. The reasons for not running are numerous, cod weather, windy weather, and rain days. However, the main reason may be increased babysitting of my grandson Logan and granddaughter Zoe.That may also be a convenient excuse for being lazy!

Anyway this morning the temperature was in the low 40s with no wind or rain. A look at forecast for tomorrow indicated that it was supposed to be a little colder a a little windy. So today was the day. I decided I would just run my standard 5K course and I had to tell myself to go slow! The run was my first in two weeks so just take it easy and enjoy the run. read more

Rise from Joanna Connor Highlights a Good Run

So I succeeded in avoiding running all weekend. My excuse Saturday was it was too cold in the morning. Then in the afternoon we babysat Logan while his parents took their new puppy to obedience training. After that there was College Football as I watched the end of the Gators game, followed by the LSU-Alabama game. The Georgia game ended the night.

Then yesterday was Trader Joe’s in the morning followed by NFL football. Yesterday had the best possible end for an Eagles fan with the Cowboys going down to the Vikings!! read more

The Run -Four Miles

This morning was a running day. My last run was a 3.1 mile run on Sunday. Today I decided I would run a four mile course. I chose an out and back course that I call Creek Out and Back. I have been running over this course for many years I like it because it’s fairly flat and I get to run along the  Rancocas Creek for a short way. Only problem is that I only get to really see the create in the winter and early spring.

Anyway the run was not anything to write home about or blog about. I guess the two good aspects of the run were that my heart rate was under 138 bpm for the majority of the run and the four mile was faster than the third. Here are the nerdy  results. read more

Toronzo Cannon Powers My Fastest Run Since June

Toronzo Cannon Powers My Fastest Run of Last Three Months

So sometimes as a runner you have to plan around of activities. Today I wanted to run but I also knew I wanted to do a load of laundry at the laundromat and make a trip to Trader Joe’s. I also wanted to be home before the Eagles game at 1:00.

The solution was to get up before 7, meditate for 15 minutes, then take the laundry. Since the laundry takes slightly less than 40 minutes, I had time to come home and do a 20 minutes Cardio-Yoga warmup. The cardio to get my heart working and the yoga to stretch out. After  bringing the wash home to dry it, I was ready to run. read more

A Busy Morning, A Four Mile Run with Giles Robson

This morning was just a typical morning for this 68 year old. The day started with a twenty minute pre-run warmup. Normally I would run immediately after the warmup, but today was Sunday instead of Saturday.

Why you say is that important. Well, first  Sunday is usually laundry day and then  food shopping at Trader Joe’s. But because we had to go to a viewing early on Saturday and then do some shopping before my granddaughter’s fifth birthday party I decided to run this morning,

Typically, I like to get to the laundromat early on Sunday before it gets busy. So I warmed up, went and put in the laundry and came back home. I put out food for the  birds and squirrels. Then cleaned out the liter boxes for our four cars, took out the trash and recycling. Oh, I did get to sit and  read for a few minutes. read more

A Strong Run with Altered Five Blues Band

A Good Warm-up, and a Strong Run with Altered Five Blues Band

Yesterday was one of those late summer mornings you want to bottle and save for the rest of the summer. Morning temperatures were in the low 60s with low humidity. It was a great morning for a run.

In the past I have read articles recommending easing into a run. Maybe even walking for the first part of a run and then working your way up to your training pace. Well I’d rather just start running and reach my training pace as soon as possible.

However, lately I decided that maybe a short workout would work as a way to ease into a run. With that in mind, I made a dual playlist. The first three songs are dance cardio songs. While the last two are slow instrumentals. They are good to use as a soundtrack for a short yoga routine. I usually do the routine, then put on my running gear and hit the road. read more

The Run

Yesterday’s was one of those days that was about as close to perfect as you can get. First we were going to be babysitting our grandson Logan all day while his parents and older sister went to Six Flags. The good thing was we didn’t need to be there until 9:30. That meant that I could run around 8:00 and and be done and showered by 9:30. So I got up at 7:00 did some warm up exercising and was out the door by 8:00.

I ran a 3.1 (5K) mile course that is pretty flat. It’s the fourth time I’ve run since I was sick with an upper respiratory infection and a touch of pneumonia. Overall, it was the best of the four runs. Here are the results…. read more

Walter Trout’s Survivor Blues Powers Tuesday’s Run

The Run 3.14 Miles

So today was supposed to be colder with a chance of some snow, so yesterday was the better day to run. Since my knee still felt slightly funky I decided that once again , I would run my standard 3.1 mile course. By the time I reached the first mile mark my leg felt pretty good. I was running at a 10:01 min/mile pace and running easily,. As I continued my run, I tried to keep my pace a little slower than my last couple of runs. To do that I kept a close eye on my heart rate and when it rose to around 145 or so I slowed down a little. read more
