Danish Space Rock from Causa Sui

Causa Sui – Return to Sky – Psychedelic/Space Rock-Denmark

So this morning I was looking for some music to start my day. I went to Spotify and then to Browse and My Discover selections. The second album among the ‘Top Recommendations for You’ was the album Return to Sky from  the band  Causa Sui. Having no idea about the band or the genre of music that they played, I gave them a try. What I heard was a pretty interesting instrumental band.!!

Run & Rock with Cargo from Royal Hunt!

Cargo - Royal Hunt

The Run

So after our trip to Moorestown on Sunday, I wasn’t sure if I was going to run or not. But I was able to get myself moving and I headed on out. I loaded up a little prog on the iPhone, Cargo the latest from the band Royal Hunt and I was off, but not for long. Over the last several weeks, the back of my left shoe has rubbed on my foot and I developed a blister which popped and now I am left with the residual irritation, I have put a band-aid over the spot and that helps but Sunday I started running without the band-aid because my foot hadn’t felt too bad. Mistake! read more

Myrath – Legacy

Myrath – Legacy – Progressive Metal – Tunisia

So around eleven o’clock this morning I thought it was to stop pounding on the computer keyboard and get up and get something done around the house In doing so, I decided to put on some progressive rock. I chose Legacy from Myrath. The album has been in my music rotation for about a week now and I like it more and more each time I listen to it!

Myrath is a progressive metal band from Tunisia. Yes, you read that correctly Tunisia. I first listened to the band back in 2013 two years after the release of their third album 2011’s Tales of the Sands. I really liked that album with it;s blending of progressive metal and Middle Eastern music. It was really a sound that I had never heard before.  Like many of Myrath;s fans I have been eagerly waiting for the release  a new album and Legacy appear to be worth the wait!! read more

The Run – November 12, 2015 – Creek Out and Back

Being the fair-weather runner that I am, I was a little concerned on Thursday, when I could see that it was raining in the morning. I thought that maybe my run would be washed out like it was on Tuesday. But the front moved through and by the time I was ready to run at around 4 o’clock it was cloudy but not raining. I decided that I would run my Creek Out and Back since it was getting close to dark and that course crosses only one main street and it is an easy run, which fit well with a day that started a 7 am at Target!! read more

Sky Architects – The Hollows

The Hollows – Sky Architects – Post Rock/Math  – Denmark!

So on last Thursday’s run the soundtrack  was The Hollows from Sky Architects. I was excited when I saw this new release the other day. I knew that I had listened to this band before and had enjoyed their work. The album was really good somewhat different from what I expected but enjoyable none the less. When I went to research the band this morning I discovered that they were NOT who I thought they were. These guys have an s on the end of Architect! Sky Architect is a heavy prog quintet from the Netherlands. While Sky Architects is a four-man  Post Rock/Math band from Aarhus, Denmark!! Ok so here is the geograhy geeks moment. Where is Aarhus in Denmark. read more

Since Ever’s Prog Rock Powers a Four-Mile Run

Since Ever -Metal Rock Symphioic – Sweden

So after babysitting Oliver on Monday and then working yesterday at Target, I was a little tired yesterday and it was one of the two days I can run this week. After work I seriously thought about skipping the run, but on a quick shopping trip my wife asked if I was going to run. I said, “I’m thinking about it!” Hum, did she read my post or did she just assume that it was a day I could run?? Either way it kinda sealed the deal that I was going to run!!I decided that I would run 4 miles, but over a course without a hill! So once again I carved out a new four mile course over the familiar streets of Riverside and Delran. read more

Pantommind’s Progressive Metal Fuels a Good Run

The Run

So this morning I woke up feeling kinda stiff, but I guess that is what you should expect as one approaches 64. I knew that a run was on “my schedule” but so was yoga. I decided that I was going to do my Monday morning routine of Kundalini mixed with some weights and band exercises. As I did those exercises, I started to feel better and better, so thought well just maybe I COULD run!! I also thought it would be pretty bad to extol the virtues of scheduling and then skip a run the second day it’s on my schedule!!  I decided yes I would run!! read more

Goblin Rebirth – The Safari Explores Italian Prog Again!

Goblin Rebirth – Rock Progressivo Italiano • Italy

It seems that lately I have been enjoying more and more bands that fall into the sub-genre of Rock Progressivo Italiano (See Armonite, Unreal City). The latest one is Goblin Rebirth. Their self-titled debut album has been in my rotation for a few days. It was even the soundtrack for a walk yesterday, back from the garage that was repairing my daughter’s car! It is a really good instrumental album.

Since the album was self-titled i thought Goblin Rebirth was a new band!! Wrong!! In reality they are what the name suggests, the rebirth of the band Goblin, whose roots go back to the mid-70s when  they collaboratied with Italian master of horror Dario Argento, scoring, a number of  Argento’s horror films such as ‘Profondo Rosso,’ ‘Zombi’ and ‘Suspiria.’ Goblin achieved immense success from this collaboration and achieved a legeneday status. The majority of their  music is heavy and moody with a Pink Floyd feel. The centerpiece of the band in the early years was the outstanding keyboard work of Claudio Simonett  Throughout the years in addition to the lastest reincarnation as Goblin Rebirth,,  the band has also been known as: Back to the Goblin, New Goblin, the Goblin Keys and Claudio Simonetti‘s Goblin! read more

Armonite -The Sun is New Each Day

Armonite: Rock Progressivo Italiano • Italy  –  Rating ****

Over the last few days, the album The Sun is New Each Day from the band Armonite has been in my music rotation. It is an interesting instrumental progressive rock album. The band has a distinctive sound generated mostly by the sound of an electric violin. That violin is being played by one of the two founding members of Armonite, Jacopo Bigi. Bigi and composer Paolo Fosso. Together they founded Armonite in 1996, while they were still in school. The band released its first album Inuit in 1999. After which the band broke up. Jacopo pursued a career as a classical violinist and violin teacher, while Paolo started working in music administration. In 2015 they reunited and formed a new band, but used the old name. read more
