The Walk (not the run!)

I know that I was supposed to run yesterday. But first we had to do some shopping before the Eagles game. Then after the end of that upsetting loss to the Giants I was in no mood to run. However, I didn’t want to totally avoid exercise so I decided to walk instead.

Along with  just not being  not in the mood to run I also knew that it was late enough that it would be getting dark before I finished my run.  I hate  the switch back to standard time in the fall It would be so nice if it stayed light out until 5:30 to 6:00 at night! I’ll put up with it being dark in the morning! The Run – November 12, 2015 – Creek Out and Back

Being the fair-weather runner that I am, I was a little concerned on Thursday, when I could see that it was raining in the morning. I thought that maybe my run would be washed out like it was on Tuesday.But the front moved through and by the time I was ready to run at around 4 o’clock it was cloudy but not raining. I decided that I would run my Creek Out and Back since it was getting close to dark and that course crosses only one main street and it is an easy run, which fit well with a day that started a 7 am at Target!! read more

Colin Edwin – Explorations of his Music on His Birthday – July 2nd!

I have explored the music of Colin Edwin, not through the band that he has been a member of since 1993 Porcupine Tree; but through his collaborations with Jon Durant and more recently with Armonite. So today July 2nd is his birthday. So, I thought it may be a good day to more extensively explore the man and his music.  What I discovered is that Colin Edwin, like many talented musicians has many different outlets for his musicianship! Life’s Soundtrack – Another Strong Run with Prog Rock from Sweden’s Cloudscape!

So while I’m not where I want to be yet, tonight’s run was the first time in a long while that I felt strong through the whole run. The four miles seemed to fly by pretty quickly!! The splits went like this: Mile 1 – 10:01, 2- 10:17, 3, 10:15, 4 10:20 not bad at all! Early in the month, the last two miles were like a 1 minute or so per mile slower than the first two miles. Overall, I was about 1:38 faster than the last time I ran this course!!

Exploring Prog Rock – Anubis – A Tower of Silence

Anubis – Neo-Prog – Australia

Yesterday I noted that at number  8 on the ProgArchives list of best albums over the last few years is A Tower Of Silence by the Australian neo-prog band Anubis. I gave it a quick listen and it sounded like something I would like, so I put it on the iPhone and gave it a more thorough listen this morning. I put it on as I was shopping in Target this morning and I really liked what I heard. We had been in the store for about 40 minutes or so we were ready to leave so I thought I’d check as to where I was on the album – I was all the way to track FOUR! I hadn’t noticed that the opening track “The Passing Bell” – was in typical ProgRock fashion was over 17 minutes long! read more
