Thoughts of the November Man lead to Series I Miss!

Thoughts of The November Man and Three Missed Series

So the other day while I was straightening up, I came across one of my old book journals. The journal covers the years from 1992 to 2000 (roughly my 40s).

Anyway, when I was looking at the journal, I also for some reason checked my Goodreads’ bookshelves. I discovered  none of the books from 1993 were listed. So I  started out to shelve the books.

Book No. 8 for the year was Burning the Apostle  by Bill Granger. It is the 13th and final book in Granger’s November Man series. The first November Man book I read was The Infant of  Prague, which I read in 1988. Between 1988 and 1993 I read the last five books in the series, as well as, the second book in the series Schism. read more

Dark Sky -C.J. Box (Joe Pickett #21)

I have been reading c.J. Box‘s  Joe Pickett books for a long time and Dark Sky the 21st book in the series is in my opinion one of his best!

About Dark Sky

In Dark Sky  Joe must lead an elk hunting trip for a famous tech mogul. Steve Price, better known as Steve-2, the founder of Aloft and the social media platform  ConFab. Steve-2 wants to track, kill and dress an elk. Needless to say things don’t go well almost from the beginning. As the hunting party begins the hunting party are being watched by the Thomas  family. Seems the father Earl has a score to settle with Steve-2 and he’s brought along his to sons Kirby and Brad to help him settle it! read more

Finally a Post! Romeo’s Way Book 22 for 2021!

Ok so it may or may not be obvious but I am not having an easy time restarting posting to this blog. I have started countless posts only to not finish them. Frankly, I really don’t know why. Part of the reason may be that I am being overly self-critical. I keep telling myself no one cares or even likes what you write! Additionally, I think of  the vast quantity of blogs and say to myself, “why do you think anyone is going to visit your blog?”My answer is always the same – I don’t know”. Then I decide to go and find something else to do! read more

Ragnar Jonnason -The Darkness the Start of a Great Series!

The Darkness - Ragnar Jonnason
The Mist
is one of the four books I have planned to read over the next four weeks. I knew it was part of a different series from Ragnar Jonnason  Rupture the last of Jonasson books that I’ve read. Rupture is part of Ragnar’s Dark Iceland series, while The Mist is part of the Hidden Iceland series.

.What I didn’t  do before  I checked The Mist out of the library was check what number it was in the series. When I did check I discovered It’s book number three.

A while back I had checked out the electronic version of The Darkness, which is book one of the series. However, It went back unread. First because I got caught up reading other books and secondly because ebooks can not be renewed. read more

Four Proposed Reads Will Take Me to Three States and Iceland

My four proposed reads for the end of January and the first half of February

I mentioned yesterday I have finished three books so far in 2021. The latest being The Boy from the Woods. Books 1 and 2 were Where the Forest Meets the Stars and The Wives respectively.

Typically, I don’t usually read books like either Where the Forest Meets the Stars or The Wives. However, last year I did read several books that were not crime based mysteries or thrillers and enjoyed all of them!  In the next few days I’ll post a list of the books I read in 2020 and also try to write about the two books that started 2021. read more

The Boy from the Woods -Harlan Coben delivers again!

Ok so this blog is titled FreeWheelin’ Book and Music Safari and so far in 2021 I have not written about any books! The reason I haven’t written  about any of the book I’ve  been reading is that I’ve been writing about my 30-day folk music challenge.

However, I have been reading, all be it at a slower pace than typical during the winter months. So far, I have finished three books. I finished The Boy From the Woods by Harlan Coben yesterday afternoon. It’s book number 3 for 2021.

The  book is a stand alone novel and not part of the Myron Bolitar series. However, it does feature criminal lawyer Hester Crimstein, who has made appearances in many Bolitar books read more

Balancing Reading and Writing And Riley Sager’ Home Before Dark

Reading, Listening and Writing – How Can I Balance It All ?

What I am discovering over the last few days is that as I write more and more posts, I am reading less and less. And I am not thrilled about that trade-off.

Saying that, if I read four more books in the remainder of November and December. I will have read 52 books in 2020. That of course is one book a week and I think that’s pretty good. However, my goal was 60 books and I would like to get a little closer to that goal.

So over the next few days I’m going to need to set up a daily schedule that provides time to read and also write posts. read more

Goodwill Trip Yields Books by Preston & Child and Silva

So I used the picture at the top of this post to introduce the new focus of this blog. All of the items were purchased on our last trip to Goodwill for the hefty total price of $6.00! I love the prices and I love to support Goodwill. They worked tirelessly with my son Nick to help him get a job!

Anyway, while the prices were great on both the CDs and books, the better aspect of the purchase is that the books and the CDs are all from favorites.

The Books

The two books I bought were Blue Labyrinth from the writing duo of Preston & Child and The English Spy by Daniel Silva. read more

Alex Kava – Hidden Creed (Ryder #6) Her Best Yet?

In

Hidden Creed - Alex Kava
Hidden Creed (Ryder Creed #6) -Alex Kava

Ok so I am not a dog person, we have always had cats. Having said that, Alex Kava’s Ryder Creed series makes me realize how many cool things dogs can do that cats can’t or won’t do! Hidden creed is book number 41 for the year. It is the sixth book in the series and may be the best yet!

I have been reading Alex Kava’s books since 2005, the year I read the first Maggie O’Dell book A Perfect Evil.

Strandedll (#11) is the only book in that series I haven’t read.  I know I checked it out of the library one or two times and started it at least once. However, I guess I started another book and never returned to Stranded. That ultimately led to it being returned it to the library unread. The reason I mention this book is that it is the book in which Ryder Creed and Maggie meet. Additionally, the Stranded case is mentioned in Hidden Creed. read more
