Americana Music Explorations
I didn’t listen to a lot of new music, during the years that my kids were little. I spent those year mainly listening to the likes of Raffi and Sharon, Lois and Bram. In the late 90s, though, when the kids were a older, I re-discovered my love for music! As I’ searched for new music I discovered that the music, I was drawn to, had unfamiliar label. One of the music charts that I regularly reviewed was The Americana Music Chart. Often when I was reviewing The Americana Music Chart, I thought,”hey, I like that guy, and that one. A Definition of Americana Music
There are many definitions of Americana Music. The No Depression website provides the following definition.
“AMERICANA music is the fertile ground where Rock, Roots, Bluegrass, Celtic, Soutern Rock, Appalachian, “Austin alternative country”, Folk, and the Delta blues collide and flourish. “
This definition is a good one for me because I started as a Rock fan that liked “Folk Rock” i.e. Poco, The Youngbloods and Buffalo Springfield. I gravitated towards folk music, as the years passed, listening to the likes of Bob Dylan, Tom Rush, Phil Ochs, Leonard Cohen, John Gorka, Bill Morrisey and Jerry Jeff Walker. My love for the music of Jerry Jeff led me to other “Alt-Country” like Pat Green, Jack Ingram and Guy Clark. Likewise, he music of Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry led me to Delta Blues. Soon much of the music that I was listening to fell under the umbrella of Americana music!!

The Americana posts are divided into several main categories, to help make exploration of my posts a little easier. The main categories are as follows:
